Overview of Workshop:
Stephen G. Gilligan stated in his book, Therapeutic Trances—The Cooperation Principle in Ericksonian Hypnotherapy, “It is argued that creative solutions to vexing problems can emerge when the therapist and client trust their unconscious processes to cooperate in a joint endeavor.” This workshop will help the clinician to “take what the client is bringing” while trusting in his/her unconscious process to develop metaphors and stories as a venue for positive change as a joint endeavor. Cases will be presented ranging from children through adult and dealing with a variety of problems such as: trichotillomania in a little girl with a curl; chronic headaches and perfectionism –practice doesn’t always make perfect (14 year old teen); body language tells it all (54 year old angry male), career search—the artist and the deep sea diver (27 and 38 year old males); a shy bladder (35 year old woman); water parks and swallowing pills (27 year old woman); back pain and riding the waves; and stories with a borderline personality disorder (32 year old male). (Depending on time)

Objectives of Workshop:
