The New Neuroscience of Mirror Neurons, Creativity, Brain Plasticity, and Healing in Therapeutic Hypnosis, Psychotherapy, and Rehabilitation:

Revolutionary research in neuroscience and functional genomics documents how the experience of (1) Novelty, (2) Environmental Enrichment, and (3) Physical Exercise can optimize gene expression, brain plasticity (brain growth), and mind-body healing. We will explore practical approaches to facilitating the 4-stage creative cycle to optimize these experiences in therapeutic hypnosis and psychotherapy. We will investigate the possibility of a deeper understanding about the role of mirror neurons and implicit processing heuristics (therapeutic suggestion) in transmuting negative experiences into positive realizations by facilitating the creative reconstruction of the mind-brain at a molecular-genomic level.

9 AM 1. Mirror Neurons & Implicit Processing Heuristics in Psychotherapy

9:30 AM 2. From Mind to Molecules in Therapeutic Hypnosis
    B. Brain Plasticity: Hour & Daily Re-Synthesis
    C. Psychological Experience Drives Synaptogenesis

10 AM 3. Creative Replay as the Essence of all the Psychotherapies

    2) To list 3 activity-dependent approaches to facilitating gene expression and brain plasticity via therapeutic hypnosis and psychotherapy.
    3) To build skills in the practical application of implicit processing heuristics in therapeutic hypnosis, psychotherapy, and rehabilitation.

    Sunday, September 21, 2008 Registration: 8:30 AM, Program 9 AM– 5 PM

Can Art, Beauty, and Truth Facilitate Gene Expression and Brain Plasticity in Therapeutic Hypnosis, Psychotherapy and Rehabilitation?

We will experience a new world view of the meaning and role of consciousness, love, truth, and beauty in the arts, humanities, and culture as presented in Rossi’s recent books. Group and individual demonstrations will be used to explore new activity-dependent approaches to facilitating the 4-stage creative process that may optimize gene expression, brain plasticity, and mind-body healing via therapeutic hypnosis and psychotherapy. Small group practice will be used to learn these new psychosocial attitudes and practical approaches to the deep psychobiological foundation of therapeutic hypnosis and psychotherapy as presented in Rossi’s most recent books.

9 AM 1. Psychosocial Genomics Theory of Novelty, Gene Expression, Brain Plasticity, & Mind-Body Healing via Therapeutic Hypnosis.
    A. Examples of Novelty, Enrichment, and Exercise in Daily Life and Hypnosis
    B. Gene Expression in Response to Psychosocial Cues
    C. Activity-Dependent Neurogenesis and Healing via Stem Cells

9:30 AM 2. Group & Individual Demos of Innovative Therapeutic Hypnosis.
. A. Group Demonstration of Creative Replay in Therapeutic Hypnosis & Psychotherapy
    B. Group Experience of 4-Stage Creative Process via implicit processing heuristics
    C. Discussion of Activity-Dependent Therapeutic Hypnosis & Psychotherapy

Lunch - Noon - 1 PM on your own

1 PM 3. Practicum 1: Small Group Practice and Discussions.
A: Small group practice: Hand Hypnosis & the 4-stage Creative Process
B: Discussion of Roles of Psychotherapist and the Patient
C: Summary: The Activity-Dependent Creative work of the Therapist

    2:15 PM Break

2:30 PM 4. Practicum 2: Small Group Practice and Discussions.
A: Small group practice: The Hand Polarity Process for Problem Solving
B: Discussion of Roles of Therapist and the Patient
C: Summary: The Activity-Dependent Creative Work in Daily Life
